EnMS Policy

Hunza Sugar Mills (Pvt.) Ltd. (Distillery & Carbon Dioxide) ensures that Energy Management, Energy
efficiency, and Energy targets remain its top priority to achieve maximum satisfaction of all
stakeholders and conserve energy untimely, moving towards sustainability.

HSML-DC is committed to:

  • Continually improve EnMS and energy performance, including energy efficiency and the use of
    renewable energy sources, by setting measurable objectives for tracking energy performance and
    conservation goals.
  • Reduce energy-related operational costs by optimizing energy consumption in Fermentation,
    Distillation & EDU, Carbon dioxide, Effluent Treatment Plant and ancillary processes, investing in
    innovative technologies, and enhancing energy-saving practices across the organization.
  • Consider EnMS risks, SEUs, and energy targets while making business decisions.
  • Develop and review EnMS objectives and energy targets at all levels in the HSML-DC.
  • Ensure the availability of information and resources to achieve EnMS objectives and energy
    targets.
  • Satisfy and comply with applicable EnMS laws & regulations, legal/regulatory/International and
    other requirements related to energy efficiency, energy use, and energy consumption.
  • Establish & implement a process by which persons doing work under the HSML-DC’s control can
    make comments or suggest improvements to the EnMS and energy performance.
  • Promote energy efficiency awareness, actively involve employees at all levels in energy-saving
    initiatives, and encourage them to contribute to energy performance improvements through
    training and recognition programs.
  • Support the procurement activities of energy-efficient products & services that impact and
    consider energy performance improvement to support long-term energy conservation.
  • Ensure energy-efficient design in new facilities, processes, and modifications to enhance energy
    conservation and operational efficiency over the lifecycle of equipment and infrastructure.
  • Continually improve suitability, adequacy & effectiveness of energy performance and the EnMS.
  • Use of energy-efficient products, services, and materials that impact Energy performance to
    conserve natural resources, prevent environmental pollution, reduce risks, and develop
    awareness & culture to instill EnMS ownership and responsibility in employees and contractors.
  • Provide risk & behavioral-based training and development opportunities to our employees to
    maintain job competence focused on developing a culture of excellence.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to demonstrate responsibility in all areas of Energy efficiency.
  • Hold contractors & third parties to abide by the HSML-DC’s EnMS policy & procedures to ensure
    satisfactory EnMS continual performance.

EnMS policy & program progressively comply with the requirements of ISO 50001:2018 standard.

EnMS policy will be reviewed periodically, relevant, appropriate & and if necessary updated, to take
into account any changes in the HSML-DC’s structures or the light of legislative changes. This policy
statement will be made available and communicated to all employees & interested parties.
